History
2006 sees the birth of the N.Z.A.K, the first hand operated circular sock machine (csm) to be manufactured using modern technology. The Machine is lightweight and efficient. While incorporating yesterday's ideas and methods, the N.Z.A.K. celebrates improvements made possible by using 21st century materials and design machinery.
Jacquie Grant first became interested in csms in 1986. She was already a competent hand-spinner and flatbed knitter. She was given an old Griswold csm in pathetic condition: rusty and covered in 50 years of grime and grease. The rest as we say, was History.
Jacquie is an expert in restoring vintage knitting machinery, both commercial and domestic, not only for her own vast personal collection but also for resale.
The N.Z.A.K. is a natural progression from this interest.
Jacquie has long realized that the supply of vintage machines is finite and costs are rising. She also realized that it would be possible to produce a machine at relatively low cost for experienced and beginner knitters alike that would be efficient and not have the problems of having to do repairs or replace parts on old machines.
